An energy summit should leave people with more than a stack of business cards. Opening C3 Solutions’ second annual American Energy Leadership Summit, Drew Bond set a more useful test: move the policy debate forward and make connections that help people build something.
That ambition shaped the day’s format. Conversations with policymakers sat alongside pitches from people trying to finance companies, connect power plants, and strengthen American supply chains. Permitting reform bookended the program because even the best idea needs a workable path through government.
Bond’s emphasis on principles and people before politics supplied the common thread. Drawing on earlier cooperation among organizations with very different political outlooks, he made the case for finding practical agreement on innovation. The opportunity for the room was to turn that agreement into progress beyond the summit.
