Leadership Change Announcement
Dear Friends and Supporters:
2025 was an excellent year for C3 Solutions and the principles and policies we support!
I am excited to announce that, starting in 2026, I will take on the role of Executive Chair of C3 Solutions and promote Nick Loris to President of the organization.
As Executive Chair, I will continue to stay very involved in the organization with a specific focus on further developing the board of directors, fundraising, promoting the organization’s principles and ideas through writing opeds, appearing in the media, speaking at conferences, and advancing the cause of freedom globally with our Free Economies are Clean Economies. This new role will allow me to spend more time on my entrepreneurial ventures, particularly PowerField Energy, my solar company.
As President, Nick will take on the day-to-day leadership of the organization and further build out the policy and Congressional outreach team. Nick has proven his policy breadth and depth on the critical issues facing our energy, climate, and environmental challenges. He is a trusted policy mind across the Administration, on Capitol Hill, and with our public policy partners globally. I am confident that in his new role as President, he will accelerate the organization’s growth and impact.
These changes come at the best time.
Changing the Narrative
Since our founding in 2020, the organization has continued to prove our unique policy value and impact. As a distinctly conservative, free-market, nonpartisan organization committed to principles, not politics, we have helped change the narrative on energy, climate, and the environment to benefit people and the planet.
The agenda is no longer about subtracting and dividing to reach an unattainable goal of Net Zero, which plays into China’s hands at the expense of American energy security.
The agenda is now about adding and multiplying, strengthening American energy security with abundant, affordable, and reliable energy that is the cleanest in the world.
The narrative has changed from negative “Net Zero” at all costs nonsense, to a positive “Net Abundance” that is affordable, reliable, and energy secure. People first, and good for the planet.
Principled Policy Impact
More important than the narrative is our policy impact. In our writing, testimony, congressional and administration outreach, and our coalition work, we’ve had notable success.
Just last year, we made the case for making technology-neutral tax policy in the form of immediate expensing, including for research and development expenses. Full-expensing is a pro-growth, pro-environment policy, and it was a welcome sign that it was included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
We pushed hard on permitting reform. We testified on the SPEED Act, which would improve environmental reviews and rein in excessive litigation. With the bill passing in the House, there’s much to do in the Senate. And permitting reform goes well beyond the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). We’ll continue to make the case that permitting reform should modernize all of America’s environmental statutes so that American companies can invest, build, and compete.
We made the case for investing in America’s energy innovation ecosystem across the Department of Energy (DOE), modernizing DOE to accelerate the speed and scale of innovation, and solidifying the role of the DOE’s Energy Dominance Finance Program in advancing American competitiveness. We look forward to building on that momentum to unlock public-private partnerships and ways to maximize the impact of America’s innovation investments.
We also advanced a strong agenda for agricultural innovation and conservation. Building on earlier testimony, we wrote extensively on forest management and wildfire mitigation. Encouragingly, the Fix Our Forests Act passed the House and advanced through the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee.
We also made the case for investing in agricultural programs to strengthen farm resilience and support environmental stewardship by emphasizing public-private partnerships to expand the adoption of conservation practices. These priorities are now reflected in USDA’s new Regenerative Pilot Program, designed to improve soil health, reduce administrative burdens, and strengthen long-term farm productivity. We also worked closely with lawmakers to build practical policy that aligns the needs of American agriculture with defense and security priorities.
American Leadership in Energy Innovation Summit
To cap it all off, on December 15, we hosted a resoundingly successful American Leadership in Energy Innovation Summit, where Secretary of Energy Chris Wright delivered the opening keynote and a fireside chat.
We heard from Congressional leaders, Representatives August Pfluger (R-TX) and Celeste Maloy (R-UT), about the need and prospects for permitting reform on Capitol Hill.
From across the Administration, we heard from the White House’s Director of the National Energy Dominance Council, Jarrod Agen; Greg Beard, Senior Advisor to the Office of Energy Dominance Finance Program; Conner Prochaska, Director of ARPA-E; and Rick Stockburger, Executive Director of the Foundation for Energy Security and Independence.
Private sector leaders included Mike Howard, CEO of Howard Energy Partners, Ann Bluntzer, Executive Director of the Hamm Institute for American Energy, Mike Catanzaro, CEO of CGCN, Becky Klein, Klein Energy LLC and Board of Directors for Diamondback Energy, Michael Bruce, Senior Director of Venture Investing for Emerson Collective, Jeremy Harrell, CEO of ClearPath, Dan Romito, Managing Director of Pickering Energy Partners, Rich Powell, CEO of the Clean Energy Buyers Association, Kyle Danish, Partner at VanNess Feldman and Nonresident Fellow at CSIS, Chris Mowry, CEO of Type One Energy, Taite McDonald, Founder of the Energy Infrastructure Alliance Forum, and a who’s who audience across business, capital investing, technology and policy.
In the spirit of Christmas, check out our special guest who showed up at our holiday party!
2025 was truly a great year, and I am even more excited about 2026 and beyond.
Thank you for being our partner.
Onward and Upward!
