Academia’s meltdown over Trump’s science plan isn’t about policy. It’s about the cover letter

Drew Bond writes about the Trump Administration’s science plan and why the backlash isn’t based on its merits.

It seems that some of the scientific establishment are more concerned with political science than actual science.

Just look at their response to the Trump administration’s recent report, “Science: A New Golden Age.”

If you listened to only the loudest critics, you’d think the Trump administration is trying to send us back to the Stone Age. The Union of Concerned Scientists lambasted the report as “a grave threat to independent science within and beyond the federal government.” Science magazine said that researchers warned the report “could do more harm than good.” The American Association of University Professors warned the report would “weaken” scientific independence.
